CRFS, the Cambridge (UK) developer and manufacturer of RF spectrum management and surveillance systems, has set up a US subsidiary company, CRFS Inc., to better serve and support the North American market. It has opened an office in California and recruited Malcolm Levy to head up its US operation. Malcolm Levy brings over 20 years’ experience as a sales and marketing executive in test, measurement and wireless. An engineering background in RF and Communications makes him ideally suited to the role. CRFS has developed the RFeye® receiver, which sets a new level of cost-effective high-performance signal monitoring and direction finding in-building and outdoors. Designed to operate autonomously and remotely, the RFeye sweeps the RF spectrum environment at high speeds, monitors spectrum usage, detects interference, classifies signals and geolocates unlicensed, suspicious or rogue transmitters with high degrees of accuracy. The RFeye is being used in many civilian and non-civilian applications around the world including by spectrum regulators, wireless operators, security agencies and the military.

Laird Technologies, Inc. announced its acquisition of Microwave Materials Group (“MMG”), the holding company of Emerson & Cuming Microwave Products (“Emerson & Cuming”). For the year ended 31 December 2011, Emerson & Cuming’s revenues were €16.3. Revenues in 2011 increased over the previous year by 20%. Additional multimode, multi-band (MMMB) and single-mode LTE variants will be introduced in the first half of calendar 2012.

AWR Corporation has been issued a US Patent by the United States Patent and Trademark Office for a “block-specific harmonic balance analysis system.” Originally filed on December 3, 2008, US Patent No. 8,131,521 addresses circuit simulation using multi-rate harmonic balancing. AWR was also recently awarded U.S. Patent No. 7,346,480, titled “Impedance Mismatch Modeling in a Data Flow or Discrete Time Based System Simulation.” This invention pertains to directional connectivity described by the interconnections of blocks in a schematic (or netlist) and can be used to propagate arbitrary data from one block to another.

Gowanda Electronics has achieved the highest level of certification on three surface mount power inductor series. Gowanda’s three “MLP” series have been added to the military’s Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) Land and Maritime Qualified Products List (QPL) for MIL-PRF-27 Level T. Gowanda is the first in the industry to offer these Level T components.
